“Vitals are stabilizing.”
“They're body doesn't seem to rejecting the graphing.”
“Brain activity spiking!”
They can see a bright light, it floods their senses and makes them wince. Everything is bright. Everything is loud. And they hate it.
“This is it boys, we've done it...”
A low moan echoes in the room as dark brown eyes open, a blankness to them as they try to focus. Bright lights, loud noises, and unrecognizable faces blur together and then apart and then becomes fuzzy. Dark brown eyes close. Darkness embracing them once again, relief flowing through them.
“... Crap! Brain activity dropping!”
“Stability crashing...!”
“Shit. Low heart rate”
A scuffle is heard and a jolt runs through their body, darkness being pierced through with a slightest of touches. Their body jumps and they can feel words slipping from their mouth, but its nothing intelligible and nothing that makes sense to even them. Voice drift past them, panicked but distant none the less.
“Raise the voltage!”
“Alright...”
“... Clear!”
Another small touch, a crack in the darkness. Their body slams back down and they moan. The bright blurriness returns. Their dark eyes having changed to become an annoyed yellow. Let them go back to the darkness where things aren't making them sick. Let them go.
“Heart returning to normal.”
“Regular brain activity.”
“Vitals stabilizing again...”
“Oxygen levels rising... Its breathing!”
“Its living!”
The darkness doesn't return now. Instead its a meshing of faces, brightness, and a tingling sensation in their limbs. Every part of them feels heavy, almost dead. In the darkness they had felt alive. Now its just...
A loud whoosh makes their now blue eyes jump over to the side, where a small woman with black hair and pale red eyes comes sweeping in. She stops in front of them with a grin. “Good morning.” At a wave of her hand a light pressure that they didn't know they were feeling is lifted from their wrists, ankles, elbows, knees, and middle. They slowly sit up, the woman's grin coming into focus as a sharp one, horns poke out from her hair, and a tail whips behind her. “Can you speak?”
They pause, only just understanding what she meant. Surprisingly they can. It takes a moment, but they form their words slowly, “yah...es... ha... who... are... ya... oo?” The woman smiles at them, the sharp teeth gleaming in the bright light. Her tail comes to grab them around the neck and drag them forward. Dizziness swarms them, but they keep their now pale gray eyes focused and blank, pinkish bangs falling their eyes before it darkens to a red.
“I am your owner, pet. Do you understand?”
They pause again before nodding. It makes their head swim more but it works. The woman's smile widens to the point where it might make her face crack.
“Excellent.”
Releasing them she walks around the gurney, examining them. A slight tug behind them has their blank gaze turning to face back. The woman is yanking on a tail attached to them. But it doesn't bother them. Honestly only the bright lights do, they make their head spin and the dizziness increase with each passing second.
“Hmm... Your nerves must've been dulled along with the emotions, whoops.”
She shrugs and comes in front of them.
“Do you remember who you are?”
They don't even need to think. Before the darkness they were nothing, just floating and existing. So they stare at the woman with a small frown, “No.” Her sharp teeth spread into a smile.
“That's good my pet... I shall name you then,” She gives a small giggle. “Necessary Obedience Variant Awareness or NOVA for short...” A soft sigh leaves her lips as she watches them change form over and over again. “We'll have to train you to maintain your shape again, but, its like riding a bike. You never truly forget do you...?” Nova blinks and nods at their owner, the female doctor smiles brightly. “Now, relax while we finish setting up your room my pet...”
